NBA Fans Cheer as Hawks' Dejounte Murray Goes on 41-Point Spree

Dejounte Murray scored 41 points in the Atlanta Hawks' 127-113 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Murray tied his career high and NBA fans were buzzing because he was still able to do it despite being teammates with Trae Young.

The 27-year-old guard finished with 41 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals on 17-of-24 shooting. It was his second 41-point game. he set a career high on March 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Trae Young struggled from the field but still had 24 points and eight assists. The Hawks' dynamic duo has looked sharper this season compared to last season. They will be in their first full season under head coach Quinn Snyder.

NBA fans were quick to react to Dejounte Murray's spectacular night. Some fans were ready to criticize Trae Young for letting Murray take over his supposed team. However, others couldn't believe that Murray was able to score as much as he did because Young took so many shots.

One fan wrote:

"41 with Trae Young is crazy."

This fan was able to bring LeBron James into the conversation:

"Better than LeBron."

A possible Minnesota Timberwolves fan claimed the Atlanta Hawks won because of the refs and Chris Finch:

"Carried by the refs and Chris Finch."

"When you bet on him, he doesn't play that way."

This fan wasn't as excited about the fact that Murray has tended to fail to live up to his potential in certain matches this season:

"Oh, now he's decided to show up. I love Dzhontay, but he couldn't even score 15 points against a bad team the other day."

Dejounte Murray has had a bit of a rough start to the 2023-24 NBA season, but he's finally finding his stride in game four. As mentioned above, Murray tied a career-high 41 points in the Atlanta Hawks' win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night at State Farm Arena.

Murray has totaled just 44 points in the first three games of the season, including 11 points in the first game. The Eagles aren't expected to make any leaps in the East this season, but Murray and Trae Young should be fun to watch.

If Murray and Young can keep the Hawks competitive this season, they might even cause a shock or two in the playoffs. They are just two playoff games away from making the Eastern Conference Finals.
